Hand washing and disinfection

Workers must wash their hands before entering the clean room; workers involved in drug production also need to be disinfected before entering the clean room. However, whether it is sterile or non-sterile preparations, the hand washing and disinfection methods are basically the same. It is just that the number of disinfections must be increased when entering the sterile preparation room, and surgical gloves must be worn, etc., and more attention must be paid to hygiene management.

  • Washbasins filled with disinfectant

② Disinfectants generally use the following solutions

  • Chlorhexidine

  • Carbolic acids (phenolic acid, cresol soap water)

  • Chlorinated benzene, benzyl hemlock

③Hand washing and disinfection are generally carried out in the following steps

Matters to be noted in daily life

a. Take a shower, change clothes, wash hair frequently, and keep the body clean.

b. Men should try to shave every day (since beards are easy to retain contaminated particles and microorganisms, biological clean room workers, especially those who are engaged in airborne pathogens, should not grow beards. Even if wearing a gas mask, in order to fully play its function, the presence of a beard is not good).

c. Wash hands and cut nails frequently, and apply clean room lotion after washing hands to prevent skin from drying and cracking.

d. Do not touch powders or solvents that can easily cause hand skin to crack and peel.

e. Move gently within the clean room.

f. Do not drag your feet when walking in the clean room, do not swing your arms, turn, or make unnecessary movements or walk.

g. Wear gloves as required in the clean room, and do not expose your wrists. After putting on gloves, do not touch unclean things, including your own body. Change gloves frequently.
